Truth & Depth — When You Stop Searching

A Poem

Introduction:

Have you ever searched for truth — in books, in people, in someone’s words — and still come back empty?

Maybe truth was never out there. Maybe it was always within. Maybe we were simply too loud to hear it.

Truth & Depth

Truth is not the mirror hanging on your wall,
the one you glance at every morning
and forget.

Truth is the silence that stirs inside your chest
on the nights when sleep refuses to come.

Depth is not a well you measure with a rope,
not an ocean you cross on a borrowed ship.

Depth is the moment you finally meet yourself,
with no witness,
no noise,
no performance.

We spent a lifetime chasing truth in words,
turning every page,
knocking on every door.

And all along it was there,
right there,
in the place where language ends,
and breath goes still.

In the crowd, we lost our own voice,
learned to see ourselves
through other people’s eyes.

But in stillness, something quietly happened,
what we truly were
showed up, uninvited.

The noise lives on the surface,
always has,
always will.

Waves rise,
collide,
and scatter into nothing.

Only those who dove deep enough know,
beneath the water,
there is a world without weight,
without ledgers,
without exhaustion.

Not in books.
Not on the steps of temples or mosques.

Not at the feet of saints, not in the echo of prayers.

Truth arrives in one single moment,

when you stop speaking,

when you stop searching,

when you simply are,

and something inside begins to speak to you.

Just be still;

truth knows the way.

This poem was not written for anyone in particular, and perhaps that is why it belongs to everyone.

If something in these words touched a place inside you that was your own truth, wake up for a moment.

Don’t let it go back to sleep.
