A Mirror, A Memory, A Manifesto of Imperfect Beauty

A mirror doesn’t merely reflect a face; it unveils a life lived and an essence of authenticity.
Why This Poem?
While so much of today’s culture stresses perfection, this artwork goes against it gently. A mirror without any touch-ups so that I can see how I am with all my wrinkles, scars, and marks. It seeks beauty in all aspects of life, not just in symmetrical faces, while also honouring each person’s journey and love. If the way you look has ever made you question if you are important or worth anything, This poem- ”ageing gracefully” in a way, is extending a hand to you, saying that other people have faced the same challenges. You’re not alone. You’re enough.
This poem isn’t just about ageing.
It’s about authenticity.
About the grace of letting go, the dignity of living honestly, and the strength in every line on your face. Embracing imperfections is not just a poetic notion; it’s a transformative practice that fosters personal growth and self-compassion.
Poem: A Journey Through My Reflection
Mirror, mirror, show me true, My imperfections and flawed reflection through and through. https://amzn.to/3UTo89Y
Reflected in the glass, a sight I dread, I saw my face marred by imperfections spread.
Imperfections dance before my eyes, showing the picture live, a bitter-sweet surprise.
I saw an exhausted face once, sheen, with an eternally unbroken stillness keen.https://amzn.to/3CCTZVR
Lines etched by time, reciting my history’s rhyme.https://amzn.to/4fNdhWS
Fine lines grow across my eyes,https://amzn.to/4eA6wGR
A bad texture, but a sweet disguise.
An experience of fading light, a silent plea,
Lost in my memories, a soul set free.
Blemishes and scars, a history untold,
In this mirror image, no doubt a truth resides;
A body imperfect with spectacles on my face, my sight has grown old.
In this imperfect beauty, a heart resides,
Filled with pride where authenticity abides.
Beyond the surface a beauty unseen,
Strength is found, in sacred ground
Resilient and keen.https://amzn.to/4fNdhWS
So let the mirror reflect what it may be,
In this reflection, I embrace my art of imperfection.
Let the mirror tell its tale, https://medium.com/@canu5794/the-lost-world-of-manikyamani-b52ea18cbfa8
This reflection, of imperfection,
I find my worth, A journey of self-love ”the greatest worth”
The journey to self-acceptance is ongoing, but understanding the psychological benefits of embracing our flaws can be empowering.
